Tour of Lawrence is … AWESOME.

A few weeks back 6 of us took the Primal rig over to Lawrence, Kansas. It was an entertaining drive to say the least. In the van I mean, the scenery was standard midwest boredom. It was like driving across Nebraska, except it was Kansas.

Traveling antics:

Getting ready on friday night for street sprints:

It’s a really cool little town and the home of KU. The organization is absolutely top – notch. They took very good care of all the elite/pro teams. It’s the most “pro” I’ve ever felt. Our base hotel was right on the course for a few of the days and the race times were later in the day, so we had time to get up, stretch out and check things out a bit before the gloves came off.

Circuit race, we had Jesse, Drew and Marty in the breaks with Jesse scoring our top result. It was a tough day to say the least. Here they are finishing:

Weather was good friday night, but very rainy for the rest of our races. That’s not the organizers fault though, it is the reason I ate pavement though. I’ve never raced on anything as slick as the circuit race in my life. Half the field was DNF’d after the first lap. It was unreal.

It wasn’t a proper “tour” , but offered 3 days of racing with Street Sprints Friday night, a crazy hard circuit on Saturday and a crit Sunday before the fireworks for the 4th. It was great!

The best part was we all had some good results!  Top 10’s every day!

Here are some more highlights:

Winning the my second of three heats of Street Sprints. I barely missed the finals!

Cornering with a Hotel San Jose rider …. it was CRAZY slick in the crit!

San Jose winning, with teammate Jesse scoring a 7th in the crit:
